Volkswagen Split Screen campervans are going to star at Goodwood Revival in September – and you could take part

The famous Goodwood Revival event, which this year takes place from 12-14 September at the historic Goodwood Circuit near Chichester, will feature a daily parade of Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screen campervans – and Splitty owners can take part, too.

The best VW campers provide comfortable touring bases, with the iconic ‘vans having become quite the cultural symbol since the first one was a concept sketch in 1947 – and the Goodwood Revival event is going to present a great chance to take in the iconic Type 2 Split Screen.

Each year, the event brings a whole host of classic vehicles to the track, and this year’s Revival will see a collection of the campervans star in the daily opening parade. A wide variety of Split Screen models is set to take part, representing a visual history of the VW camper’s development since its inception 75 years ago.

The Duke of Richmond CBE DL, founder of the Goodwood Revival, said: “The Type 2 is more than just an automotive icon: it is a cultural phenomenon, equally at home in campervan form on a hippie encampment or family holiday camp, as a delivery van, or even as a race car transporter. We will be celebrating this variety by bringing together a wonderfully varied collection of VW Type 2s, which will open the track each morning in colourful fashion, and pop up across the Revival site.”

Early bird tickets to the event are now available on the Goodwood website. And if you own a Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screen and would like it to be considered for the parade, you can fill in the form online.

Fans of VWs may be interested in the upcoming launch of the 2026 Grand California too, which is set to take place at Düsseldorf’s Caravan Salon later this month.
